Baby Boys

Last weekend I did a home photo session with one of my favorite families ever, The Swangos. I absolutely loved this shoot because it was so natural and laid back. I came to their home and spent time with them and took photos at a leisurely pace.

Look at that face! Their two year old made the most hilarious faces! Their two little boys are just the funniest pair ever! They are so different from each other and it was very entertaining to watch them interact.

My favorite shots are always the candid ones. The natural smiles and genuine expressions on people's face make my heart melt. I truly, truly love what I do and can't WAIT to get home and upload all of the photos to my Mac when I get home from a shoot.

The shot below is my favorite of this session. The toddler was ready for a nap, but we wanted to get a sibling shot before he dozed off. One laughing and looking mischievous  and the other one having a meltdown....what an honest look at parenthood. <3

Sweet Little Family

I learned a lesson in planning and improvisation this weekend. My client and I had planned on doing a family shoot in historic Denton aka "The Square". Upon arriving, it was apparent that some type of event was about to take place. No parking spots. People sitting in folding chairs. Police directing traffic. This will teach me to make sure shoots don't coincide with events! So we decided to go to a park across town and it turned out wonderful in spite of the shaky beginning to the morning!

This little darling was ready to play when she spotted the playground! We had a fun time "toddler wrangling" and even got to play with a new puppy we met in the park.

One of my favorite things is watching the parents trying to make their little one smile for the camera. Often some of the best shots are the candid ones where they are doing just that.

Okay, Mommy and Daddy, time to have baby #2 so I can do some siblings photos! This girl is so gorgeous! The whole family is just great!

Auntie and Niece in Deep Ellum

This was one super fun shoot! Deep Ellum is a fabulous place to photograph. There are so many interesting murals, graffiti and brightly colored walls. Deep Ellum is an artist's playground and made the perfect backdrop to this Auntie/Niece session.

I met Lauren and her adorable niece, Ella early one Saturday morning and we strolled through the city for hours, stopping for photo ops, taking in the sights and sharing lots of laughs along the way!

After our city walk, we headed back to Lauren's loft where I ended up capturing some of my favorite moments between this pair. The foyer of her building had a beautiful crackled paint wall that was just begging to be the background.

Once we got back inside of her home, we did a relaxed mini shoot of these ladies solo and having fun together.  They just played off of each others' energy and it was so easy to capture wonderful moments between them.

These gals were a blast and I hope to work with them again sometime! XOXO

Mommy and Me

This little trooper stuck it out for a midday shoot in the Texas heat. It was just adorable watching him discover so many small things in a natural setting. He was serious, thoughtful and obviously had the wheels turning in his head as he explored the Texas Woman's University campus.

With his Mommy by his side, he warmed up to me and was just the sweetest little subject to photograph. I love doing parent and child photos because you can truly see the love between them. It makes me feel happy to know that I captured a special moment that will now become a page in the family album.

A Girl and Her Dog

This shoot was very meaningful to the subject, as it was to me. This is Caroline and her dog, Chance. Caroline wanted to do a shoot to not only capture the love of a girl and her dog, but also to commemorate her late father. Those are his cowboy boots that she paired with a summery dress.

Chance was eager to please and followed directions better than you could hope for. He just wanted to make sure he was by his "Mommy" the entire time.

After doing some shots at this adorable vacant building in Denton, we moved on to McKenna Park, where we chit chatted until the sun set. It was a very laid back kind of shoot, which in turn made is easy to capture the personalities of both girl and dog.

Morning Light on "Goatman's Bridge"

This is one of my favorite recent shoots. Miss Katie and I met early one Saturday morning at a local old bridge that is no longer in use. There are numerous legends and rumors that circulate about this bridge and it is deemed "Goatman's Bridge" by many.

I love this bridge because it is surrounded by woods, that in the morning hours, let little pockets of light trickle down creating an almost magical feeling as you stroll through them.

We just let the shoot unfold as the day progressed, which are my favorite kinds of sessions. Plans are always helpful, but some of the best photographs are born out of random moments down little paths that you didn't even know were there.

It also doesn't hurt when your subject is so gorgeous. Seriously, there was not a bad shot in the bunch. It was so hard to choose the "best" ones. I can't wait to work with her again! We already have another shoot in the works. Stay tuned!
